Hello Families,

I had an excellent time with your children this week. During our main lesson time we transitioned from the physical position of the earth to a cultural look at the world's water supply and demand. We looked at how different cultures deal (and fail to deal) with shortages and surpluses of this water through the examination of two cases; the Aral Sea and the Colorado River.

Next week is our last in the Geography Block and we will be using maps in a hands on fashion. My goal is to have most students understand the relationship between map and compass, and be able to navigate, at least crudely, using a USGS 7 ½ minute map.

Deadline coming up: Rough draft of report is due on Tuesday the 21st. That is in four days.

Homework this week has been much better. I am going to continue next week with a variant of the system I used this week to keep track of homework. Please let me know what you think about the homework load your child is receiving.

Well, I hope you all have a fantastic weekend. I will be up in Arcata this weekend, as I have river work on the Trinity. Please don't hesitate to call or email with any questions.

See you all next week. We will work on getting lost.
